A sum of 73 airplanes, almost 100 vehicles and other hardware were deserted by US troops as they pulled out in front of the 31 August cutoff time.  Yet, US Headquarters head Gen Kenneth McKenzie said it had all been delivered difficult to utilize. "Those airplanes won't ever fly again," he said.
